The Kamloops NorthPaws lost a wild one at Norbrock Stadium on Tuesday night to the Port Angeles Lefties, 15-11. The game was a complete 180 from the series opener as the teams traded blows all night. Kamloops got off to a lead until the Lefties hung eight runs on the board in the third. The NorthPaws slowly battled their way back, but the Lefties kept their foot on the gas, scoring three in the top of the eighth to make the comeback too steep.

Just like in game one, the NorthPaws got on the board first after shortstop Kason Siguenza and center fielder Austin Coyle singled and walked. Siguenza reached third on a sacrifice fly and Coyle stole second. While catcher Keegan Drinkle was at the plate, both scored on a wild pitch and a sacrifice ground out.

In the top of the second, three singles from Port Angeles would get them within one. But in the third inning, it all went sideways for Kamloops. The lefties scored eight runs on three singles, one double, one hit by pitch, a two-run homerun and two errors in the field from the NorthPaws. It was disastrous and was a complete change from what the crowd witnessed the night before.

The NothPaws needed an answer and had their work cut out for them. In the bottom of the third, singles by Siguenza, Coyle and designated hitter Matt MacDonald loaded the bases with no one out. After a Drinkle strikeout, left fielder Zaiden Gukert delivered another base hit, scoring Siguenza. Second baseman Chris Tampoya was up next and hit the fifth single of the inning, this time bringing in two runs, making it 9-5.

Despite the positive answer, the Lefties didn’t let up, scoring runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, taking a six-run lead into the bottom of the fifth. A hit batter and back-to-back walks loaded the bases for Kamloops once again. With one out, third baseman Dylan Dekker sent a routine fly ball to right center field that was dropped, allowing a run to score. Siguenza and Coyle both delivered RBI hits before MacDonald hit a sacrifice fly to score the fourth run of the inning, getting Kamloops within two.

After the Lefties scored once again in the top of the seventh, Dekker came up clutch with two outs. The third baseman was at the plate with no one on and took the first pitch he saw over the fence in right field, answering the run score by Port Angeles, keeping the deficit at two.

In the top of the eighth, the Lefties delivered the fatal blow with three singles and a double, scoring three runs in the top half to go up 15-10. Kamloops tried their best to respond, but only mustered one as Tampoya got his second RBI single of the night. A scoreless ninth inning for both teams meant the Lefties were victorious.

The game saw 12 of the 18 starters record an RBI, while 15 of the 18 recorded a hit. So far, the series has entertained both on the mound in game one and at the plate in game two. The teams will face off in the rubber match on Wednesday, with the final game of the 2025 season scheduled for 6:35.

Be sure to arrive early and catch the host family appreciation ceremony and stay afterwards to interact with the NorthPaws on the field for the final time in 2025!
