Wenatchee, Washington – The Kamloops NorthPaws failed to score a run for the first time this season as they fell 4-0 to the Wenatchee AppleSox. The NorthPaws finish 2-4 on their six-game road trip and sit at 2-7 to begin the season.
AppleSox starter Carson Boesel threw five strong innings, striking out four batters and only giving up three hits. Wenatchee fans were treated to terrific starting pitching performances all weekend long, and the NorthPaw bats had no response.
The AppleSox came out swinging once again, scoring in the first inning. In the third, Wenatchee rattled off four straight singles and a fielder’s choice mixed with a throwing error to score three in the inning.
NorthPaws starter Jack Thompson battled during his five innings on the mound. The righty gave up 10 hits but only three earned runs. He limited the damage in innings and contained an offence that caught fire over the last two games.
Unfortunately, this was the one night the Paws bats cooled down. The NorthPaws had their chance in the third but left the bases loaded before Wenatchee added to their lead. Kamloops also stranded runners in the final three innings.
After a promising start to the trip, the weekend was frustrating. The AppleSox seemed to capitalize on every minor mistake the NorthPaws made. Despite the controversy and tight games, the team came out of it with nothing to show for in the win column.
The NorthPaws have a much-needed off day on Monday before they return to NorBrock Stadium for a six-game home stand. The Port Angeles Lefties and Walla Walla Sweets come to town as the Paws try to get back on track.
Tuesday’s game VS the Lefties is the first Molson Coors Tuesday of the season, offering drink deals all night. Wednesday is Ladies’ Wine Night at the park, and Saturday is Bark at the Park presented by Pet Land. All games are at 6:35. We hope to see you this week at NorBrock Stadium.
