Kamloops – The NorthPaws couldn’t get the bats rolling in the series finale as the Wenatchee AppleSox completed the sweep at Norbrock Stadium. Wenatchee took the lead in the top of the third and never looked back. The Paws struggled with command in the fifth, allowing the Applesox to plate four runs and cruise to victory.
In the top of the third, back-to-back two-out hits opened the scoring. In the fifth, another two-out RBI made it 2-0 before the wheels fell off. Five straight walks scored three more runs for Wenatchee, putting them in front 5-0.
The NorthPaws had their chances throughout the game but stranded 11 runners on base, including the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth. With the loss, the Paws finish the season with a 14-13 record at NorBrock Stadium.
There were plenty of great memories, including the team’s five-game win streak, Camden Sanders ‘ walk-off two-run home run, Evan Dugdale’s complete-game shutout, and so much more. The team will now hit the road and visit Nanaimo for a three-game series to end the season, starting on Monday night.
The Paws have a chance to play spoiler. If Kamloops wins the series, it means the NightOwls risk missing the playoffs. All three games will begin at 6:35.
