Nanaimo – For the second time in less than a week, a NorthPaws pitcher threw a complete game. After a leadoff walk, a throwing error, and a single giving up the game’s first run, Lee was locked in. The righty struck out six batters and gave up just three hits while walking only two batters. The NorthPaws put up five runs at the plate and rode their pitcher’s dominant outing, keeping Nanaimo from clinching a playoff berth.
In the bottom of the first, the Owls drew a leadoff walk. Lee tried to pick the runner off, but a low throw skipped into foul ground, allowing the runner to advance from first to third base. The next batter singled to open the scoring. The run was unearned on Lee’s line.
The Paws answered immediately in the top of the second. After Tate Martin got thrown out at home, Michael Velardez hit a loud single off the wall in right field, scoring Keegan Drinkle. In the third, Brady Dowart singled and stole second. With one out, Jared Hall drove in Dowart with a single, making it 2-1.
The Paws held the lead for a while as Lee gave up just one hit before Kamloops extended their lead in the sixth. With two runners on, Velardez chopped one to the first baseman, who elected to throw to second but airmailed it, allowing Drinkle to score.
Kamloops added to their lead in the seventh. A walk and hit by pitch set up Martin, who doubled off the right field wall, scoring Kenenr Lauterbach, making it 4-1. Two batters later, Drinkle was at the plate when a wild pitch brought in the fifth run for the NorthPaws.
Lee continued to dominate on the mound. He retired 15 of his last 18 batters, sealing the victory. With the win, the Paws played spoiler. The NightOwls had a chance to clinch their first playoff berth in franchise history, but Lee sent the crowd home disappointed.
The NorthPaws wrap up the 2026 season against the NightOwls on Wednesday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35.
