Bellingham, Washington – The NorthPaws mustered a season low three hits in Friday’s loss to the Bellingham Bells. Following a four-day break, the Paws took time to wake up, registering their first hit in the fifth inning. Starter Grady Baetz had a strong outing, giving up just one earned run through four innings of work. At the Plate, Keegan Drinkle blasted his first home run of the season, giving the Paws some life late in the game.

Baetz cruised through his first two innings before a triple and a groundout scored the game’s first run in the third. The fourth inning saw him run into some unfortunate luck. With two outs, a weakly hit ground ball forced a tough play at shortstop. A low throw skipped by Brock Grainger at first base allowed two runs to score.

The NorthPaws answered in the top of the fifth with a gap double from Elijah Olaybal, getting Kamloops on the board. Unfortunately for the Paws, Bellingham poured it on in the fifth and sixth.

A double play happened to score a run in the bottom of the fifth, but in the sixth, the Bells bats clutched up with two outs. A pair of singles brought three runs home, making it 7-1.

In the eighth, Jackson Glimph reached on a single. Keegan Drinkle was up next and squared up a 92-mile-an-hour fastball for a two-run home run. The NorthPaws strung together back-to-back hits for the first time all game.

The deficit was ultimately too much to come back from as the NorthPaws fall to 7-9. The NorthPaws will try to even the series tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35. You can watch the game on the Bellingham Bells YouTube channel.
